| Job Summary: |
This is a Steamfitter-Journey position with the Facilities Planning and
Management Division, Physical Plant, Steamfitter Shop. Duties include, but are
not limited to, the following: installing, maintaining, and repairing all HVAC
installations on campus. Remodel buildings in accordance with specifications.
Maintaining and repairing HVAC facilities to enhance the safety and comfort of
all users. The work is performed under the general direction of the Shop
Supervisor. The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Physical Plant, is committed to the highest standard of customer relation's principles for its customers, fellow staff members, students, and visitors. Staff will serve as role models by practicing exemplary behaviors when working with customers and fellow staff members. | |

| Additional Requirements: |
Must have successfully completed an approved apprenticeship in the Steamfitter
craft; or, must be recognized by an appropriate authority (e.g., labor union,
trade organization, etc.); or, have performed at least 8,000 hours in the work
processes and can provide verification if required to do so. Must be able to perform physical labor: climb ladders, work from scaffold, bend, stoop, crouch, and work in close areas. Must be capable of passing a pulmonary test which would allow him/her to wear protective respirator equipment when necessary to perform steamfitter duties. Must carry an EPA Universal Refrigerant Handling Certificate and be registered with the State of Wisconsin to handle refrigerants. Ability to do necessary bending, climbing, and heavy lifting associated with the Steamfitter trade. Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds multiple times daily. This position may occasionally be asked to work hours in excess of the normal work shift. | |
