Benefits 101 is a valuable three hour presentation crafted for employees who are newly eligible for insurance benefits under the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) via employment at the UW-Madison.
Benefits 101 covers:
- Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS)
- State Group Health Insurance
- Supplemental Plans (dental, vision, flexible spending)
- Income Continuation Insurance
- Life Insurance options
- Supplemental Retirement Plans (403b and 457b)
Many benefits have 30-day enrollment deadlines, so plan to attend within the first 30 days of employment. Prior to attending the session, you're encouraged to explore the benefit options using our online walkthrough tool: https://uwservice.wisconsin.edu/ebenefits/.

Graduate Assistants Benefit Seminar & Drop-in Sessions

2016 UW-Madison Employee Benefits and Resource Fair
This annual one-day event will be held at Union South on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with benefit plan representatives, discover campus resources, attend informative presentations, talk to a benefit specialist and participate in health assessments.

This two-hour informational group session is open to any UW-Madison employee who would like to learn more about retirement benefits available through the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). This course is especially helpful to attend prior to an individual retirement counseling appointment with a UW-Madison Benefits Specialist or with the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF).
Topics include: an overview of the WRS, how UW-Madison and ETF work together to provide information on retirement, resources for calculating your monthly annuity, choosing an annuity option, health insurance and conversion of sick leave credits, benefit options after retirement, and supplemental retirement income options.

Retirement Appointment with a UW-Madison Benefits Specialist

These hour-long, individual appointments are reserved for UW-Madison employees considering Retirement within the next 12 months or who are seeking information about an upcoming Layoff and how it will affect benefits.
If scheduling for Retirement counseling, please obtain a retirement packet (estimate and application) from the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) prior to meeting with a University Benefits Specialist. To request your packet, call ETF at (877) 533-5020 or complete their Benefits Request Form, ET-4207.
If you have not yet attended a Pre-Retirement Session, consider doing so prior to your individual Retirement counseling appointment. You may register for this informational group session at www.ohrd.wisc.edu > Catalog > Benefits Education > Pre-Retirement Session.
