|Assistant Professor of Food Science
Degree and area of specialization:
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
|Ph.D. in Food Science, Dairy Science, Microbiology or a related field.
|At least two to three years of relevant experience in industry or in industry-focused outreach is preferred
|Tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level (65% extension, 35% research) specializing in dairy foods manufacturing. Research areas include, but are not limited to: the manufacturing, functionality, quality, or safety of dairy foods or their components. This is an annual (12 month) appointment.
The University and Department provide an excellent environment for the development of an outstanding dairy extension program. The successful candidate will: 1) develop a competitively-funded and integrated research and education program focused on the needs of Wisconsin's dairy foods industry; 2) develop, adapt, and assess educational activities to address emerging industry needs or issues; 3) become a leader in the nation's most successful dairy outreach program.
This position is of long-term strategic importance to the mission of the Food Science Department and the UW-Madison campus. Excellent opportunities exist to collaborate with institutional scientists/staff on the campus such as the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research.
The position carries a commitment to the functions of Extension, research, and instruction, as well as professional and university service as appropriate to the position and rank.
