Ph.D in Biomedical Engineering or related field.

 
  
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
One or more years relevant post doctoral or industry experience required. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate is expected to have exceptional potential to establish a strong research program in a biomedical engineering specialty, and must demonstrate outstanding teaching ability.

For a tenured position, candidates should have the following:

- At least 6 years in a university faculty position or government or industrial research position;

- Demonstrated track record of national leadership in biomedical engineering, with academic
accomplishments as a scholar and teacher that meet the standards for a tenured appointment
in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.
Principal duties:
The University of Wisconsin, Department of Biomedical Engineering, is seeking faculty members in all areas and at all levels. The areas listed below are of particular interest, but candidates from all areas are welcomed. The candidate's research should have clear implications for improving human health with foci on specific pathological conditions (e.g., cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease).

Neuroengineering: neural instrumentation, prostheses and interfaces, neural imaging, neural repair and regeneration, neural signal processing, computational neurosciences, and clinical neuroengineering.

Systems Biology: regulatory networks, multiscale modeling, stochastic modeling, transcription and signaling in single cells, proteomics/phosphoproteomics.

Global Health: design and implementation of sustainable engineering solutions to problems in global health

Expectations:
Candidates will be expected to develop an exceptional research program, advise graduate students and post-graduate researchers, and develop and maintain extramural funding for this research program; teach undergraduate and graduate courses and develop new courses; participate in outreach and service to industry and government; and participate in service activities in the department, college, and/or university.

 Note: Candidates with MD/PhDs are welcome to apply as long as the PhD is in biomedical engineering or related field.
