|Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Biostatistics & Medical Informatics (BMI)
Degree and area of specialization:
|PROFESSOR(C20NN) or ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR(C30NN) or ASSISTANT PROFESSOR(C40NN)
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
|PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biomedical Informatics, Computer Sciences or a closely related quantitative area.
|Years of experience will be commensurate with rank sought. All candidates must have proven success in conducting research appropriate to their stage of career. Associate or Full Professor candidates must possess experience and scholarly credentials for appointment with tenure at UW-Madison.
|The incumbent will: conduct research on novel methods and applications of biostatistics and/or biomedical informatics; collaborate with investigators at Morgridge Institute for Research (MIR) and UW-Madison; present research at national and international meetings, and publish results in leading biostatistics, computational biology, biomedical informatics, and biomedical journals appropriate to areas of application; teach one course per year; and participate in the training and mentoring of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
The incumbent will need to develop his or her own independent research program. Attracting and maintaining external funding are parts of the position expectations.
The incumbent will also participate in professional, university and community service appropriate to the faculty rank.
| ||This position is a joint initiative with the Virology Challenge Area of the Morgridge Institute for Research (MIR), the private, nonprofit interdisciplinary biomedical research organization. The successful candidate will be a fully integrated faculty member of BMI, deployed as a MIR appointee for the majority of his/her research activity. MIR is located across the street from BMI's suite of offices on central campus.
