Working Title:
Assistant Professor of Food Science
Official Title:
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR(C40NN)
Degree and area of specialization:
Ph.D. in Food Science, Microbiology or a related field.
 
  
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
None beyond that required to obtain the required degree and area of specialization. Post-doctoral work, relevant industry experience and instructional capabilities are also valued.
Principal duties:
Tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level (75% extension, 25% research) specializing in dairy foods manufacturing. Research areas include, but are not limited to: 1) artisanal cheese manufacturing; 2) value added dairy processing; or 3) dairy food safety.

Incumbent must: 1) provide leadership and support for unique, impactful outreach/extension programs in support of the food manufacturing industry; 2) lead and support various instructional needs for the Food Science department at the undergraduate and graduate level; 3) support other service needs of the Food Science department, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and campus community.

The position carries a commitment to the three functions of resident instruction, research, and outreach/service, as well as professional and university service as appropriate to the position and rank.
