Required: -University teaching experience: -Evidence of knowledge and demonstrated excellence in teaching adults or training professionals -Five years post-MSW social work practice experience in mental health -Expertise in social work practice in the substance use/abuse area
Preferred: -Experience with distance education -Experience in program coordination including budget management |
Principal duties:
60% Responsibilities in the School of Social Work, including:
30% Teach 3 classroom practice courses per year. This includes preparing an approved course syllabus in the context of the School's curriculum design and in light of any accreditation parameters, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and constructing and conducting appropriate course assignments. 20% Teach a field course fall and spring semesters. This includes preparing an approved course syllabus in the context of the School's curriculum design and in light of any accreditation parameters, holding regularly scheduled office hours, constructing and conducting appropriate course assignments, placing and supervising students in a clinical setting, developing and maintaining placement sites, and conducting student performance evaluations with agency supervisors 10% Service includes serving on school and university committees, and outreach and linkage efforts in the community fostering closer ties between the School and local and state social work practitioners.
40% Responsibilities in the Division of Continuing Studies, including:
35% Develop and teach or coordinate 8-10 non-credit continuing education courses/year in a variety of formats to address the professional development needs of social work and human services practitioners
5% Build relationships and collaborate with peers in other academic departments and the public and private sectors

| | This is a joint position between the School of Social Work and the Division of Continuing Studies. The successful candidate will participate in the life of both units, although the primary appointment is in Social Work.
We seek a candidate to start this position August 1, 2013; the candidate would begin teaching fall semester 2013 (classes begin September 3, 2013). Some teaching on Saturdays will be required.
This instructional academic staff position is a 12-month appointment. It has an intial 3-year appointment with the expectation of renewal based on teaching excellence (both in the classroom and in workshop settings) and facilitation of the field unit, and is contingent on renewed funding.
