Applicants should show evidence of the ability to develop an excellent research program in area of specialization in adult learning, including distance education.
Applicants also should show evidence of demonstrated excellence in teaching adults
Candidates for associate professor or full professor rank must meet criteria for appointment with tenure per university guidelines.

Principal duties:
We seek a tenure track or tenured faculty to provide leadership and contribute to the department's expertise in adult teaching and learning, continuing education, and distance learning. This individual will enhance the department's capacity to conduct research related to continuing education and distance education. The faculty member will be expected to be a champion for a future Center on Adult Learning to provide research on key current and emerging issues in adult teaching/learning and continuing education.
The ideal candidate will:
1. Conduct nationally/internationally-recognized research, including grant-funded research.
2. Teach, coach, mentor, and serve as a resource for department and other university staff and ad hoc instructors on best practices for teaching adults.
3. Build relationships and collaborate on research projects with peers in academic departments, as well as the public and private sector.
4. Participate in faculty governance and other university, division, and department service activities.
5. Contribute to the profession at the local, state, and national levels.

The division is home to the Distance Education Professional Development program that develops and delivers certificate programs in distance teaching and learning, and hosts the large international Conference on Distance Teaching and Learning annually. We are seeking tenure track or tenured faculty to develop an active program of research and teaching in adult learning, with a focus on professional development and/or personal enrichment. Continuing Studies is a revenue generating unit; programs and courses are expected to contribute to the financial sustainability of the department. |
