| Job Summary: | The Political Science Department is a large academic department in the College of Letters & Science having expenditures in 2012 in excess of $7.0 million. This position provides the administrative leadership for the Department. The department has a staff consisting of approximately 40 faculty, 6 classified staff members, 5 academic staff, and 100 graduate student employees working as teaching assistants, lecturers and project assistants.
This position serves as Department Administrator for the Department of Political Science, providing professional administrative leadership for the Department under the general guidelines defined by the faculty. Departmental leadership is executed by the Department Chair and Department Administrator, with the Chair representing faculty decisions and the Administrator executing those decisions in the context of University, State and Federal policy. In general terms, this position assures that the needs of the Department are served and manages the department's administrative activities which include overall department operations, staff supervision, financial administration, personnel administration, grant administration, facilities management, and liaison with relevant campus offices. This is a complex position.
