| Job Summary: | This position performs screening tests to detect metabolic, endocrine, hematological, and immunological defects in newborns as part of Wisconsin's Newborn Screening Program. Based upon initial screening results, the position selects specimens for follow-up and/or repeat testing. In conjunction with other professionals in the program, this position reports out results of the screening tests. The position functions under general supervision and direction of the Chemist Supervisor.
The person in this position is expected to model and use the tools and principles of quality management in their daily work including: Demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with managers, supervisor, coworkers, and all customers. Consistently model appropriate behaviors and assist other staff in developing effective relationships. Provide constructive feedback for the purpose of continuous improvement in a manner that is supportive of the State Laboratory of Hygiene and its mission. Consistently model the skills for getting and giving constructive feedback. Learn and use data collection tools for decision making. Instruct other staff in the purpose and use of these tools. Use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit and the organization. Present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information. Lead and facilitate teams. Participate in continuous learning through professional development activities. Research and introduce opportunities to other staff. Effectively share knowledge and skills obtained through professional development.

Schedule Comment: | Work hours for this position are 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Weekend and holiday work, on a rotating basis, is required. |
