HIRING ORGANIZATION: The Nursing Supervisors are leadership positions with direct and indirect patient care responsibilities at the UW Department of Family Medicine Verona Family Medicine Clinic, located in Verona, Wisconsin and Northeast Family Medicine Clinic, located in Madison, Wisconsin.
SALARY: Effective 12/9/07, starting salary is between $28.00 and $42.000 per hour, $58,464 to $87,696 annually, based on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. Schedule/range 50-11. A 12-month probationary period is required.
JOB DUTIES: The Nursing Supervisor positions, working in collaboration with the clinic managers, medical directors, and the Director of Clinical Care Services, are expected to develop systems of care which foster continuity of patient care, optimal outcomes for patient health, and a successful health care team environment. The primary responsibility of these positions is directing the daily clinical nursing/patient care staff activities at these clinics. These positions will also provide direct patient care at the advanced nurse clinician level, coordinate staff compliance with OSHA, and participate in resident education. JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge of current professional nursing practice, patient care, and response to emergency situations; the infectious disease process; OSHA bloodborne pathogen rules and implementation; routine, occupational; medical documentation and reporting procedures (SOAP); patient examination procedures; general patient care and treatment procedures, rules, regulations, and ethics; aseptic techniques, universal precautions and infection control procedures; administration of immunizations, parenteral medications, and allergy injections using sterile technique, and side effects of medications. Knowledge of emergency techniques and procedures. Skill in patient care, patient support and patient health education. Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills. Skill in the use of computer technology (internet, email, word processing, electronic health records). Ability to demonstrate priority-setting and ability to work in a complex environment. Ability to function with a high degree of independence and collaboration with other health care providers.
Well qualified candidates will have strong leadership and communication skills, experience in directing support staff and an excellent knowledge base of primary care nursing and clinical care.
