MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIAN - ENTRY OR OBJECTIVE

HIRING ORGANIZATION: The register established from this recruitment will be used to staff future vacancies that may occur within the next six months.

SALARY: Medical Laboratory Tech. – Entry starts at $13.899 per hour; Medical Laboratory Tech. – Objective starts at $15.039 plus excellent benefits. Pay schedule/range is 06-11 and 06-12, respectively. A six-month probationary period is required.

JOB DUTIES: Perform variety of standard laboratory testing; obtain blood specimens; receive samples to be assayed; prepare specimens for shipment; perform equipment maintenance/ adjustments; perform daily instrument set-up, calibration, quality control and shutdown procedures; maintain lab records; guide and direct other lab personnel; maintain lab cleanliness.

WELL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS: Well qualified applicants will have completed a two-year associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution and at least one full year of recent professional work experience as a medical laboratory technician in a primary care setting, including adult and pediatric phlebotomy (for the MLT-Objective level).

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Phlebotomy procedures and techniques; outpatient laboratory procedures and practices; quality control principles and procedures; laboratory safety; knowledge of CLIA Rules and Regulations; effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
