LOCATION: Verona, WI

HIRING ORGANIZATION: Currently there is an 80-100% vacancy at the Verona Family Medical Clinic with a schedule of Monday and Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. & 5:00 p.m.

The register established from this recruitment also will be used to staff future Medical Assistant 1 or 2 vacancies in University Health Services and the School of Medicine and Public Health Family Practice Clinics that occur in the Madison area within the next six months.

SALARY: Starting pay for the MA1 is $12.844 per hour and for the MA2 is $13.899 per hour, plus excellent benefits. A 6-month probationary period is required. Pay schedules/ranges are 06-10 and 06-11 respectively.

JOB DUTIES: Provide clinical and medical assistance to health care professionals. Assist with examination and surgical procedures. Prepare patients, instruments and exam rooms. Measure, administer and record medications, including injections. Take patient histories and vital signs.

For the current vacancy at the Verona Family Medical Clinic, duties include assisting providers and patients with exams/procedures, performing lab tests; preparing and maintaining equipment used for procedures, maintaining records and performing clerical tasks. Other duties include measuring, administering and recording medications and injections; administering visual acuity tests and hearing tests; and reviewing charts and calling in prescriptions per provider orders.

WELL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS: Will be certified (or eligible to be certified) as a Medical Assistant.  MA2 applicants will have at least one year of recent (within the past 5 years) professional medical assistance experience in an ambulatory care setting, outpatient clinic, emergency room, or physician's medical office. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: High School diploma or GED is required. 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Medical terminology; patient examination procedures, general patient care and treatment procedures, equipment rules and regulations and ethics pertinent to a clinic facility; observation of patient's general physical condition and needs; when to confer with a physician or other health professional about a patient's emotional or physical condition; aseptic and sterile techniques; administration of common medications and side effects; common medical supplies and equipment.
