The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) provides information technology services to UW-Madison, all UW campuses, and the UW System and other agencies, employing approximately 800 people and operating with a budget of $100 million. Job Duties:   This position will assume a lead role in the development and enhancement of web-based applications and systems employing the use of complex, emerging technology. Object oriented programming using PHP, .Net, and/or Java will be required. This position will consult with other technical staff during the functional design of applications and will provide technical leadership to other IT professionals during the technical design and program development phases. The design solutions will likely include cross platform integration using vendor packages, web services, custom applications and database design.

The scope of this position includes design, development, and implementation services provided to other groups and service teams within DoIT. This position consults with internal customers to identify new applications and also works with other DoIT staff to take advantage of centralized applications (portals, LDAP, AD) and integration tools (WS, REST, SOAP) when implementing these applications.

Typical duties of this position include: participate in the analysis of customer's business requirements and high-level functional design of systems; independently develop technical designs; perform complex programming activities; and troubleshoot/debug production system problems. This position is also responsible for directing and coordinating efforts of other IS professional staff. The position provides technical expertise and administration direction to the development of new systems and to the maintenance and support of operational systems.
