WHO CAN APPLY: This promotional opportunity is open only to current classified employees in the UW Madison Campus (including seasonal employees and employees on probation) who are not serving on a limited term or project employment basis. To be eligible, you must have been employed as Custodian 2 for the State of Wisconsin for at least 6 months, and, you must currently be employed in a permanent classified position at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Campus.

SALARY: Start at the minimum of $10.309 per hour or pay will be set at the greater of the new class that corresponds to the employe's grid seniority or in accordance with the WSEU language of pay on promotion. This classification is included in the Blue Collar and Non-Building Trades Bargaining Unit and is in schedule and range 03-08. A six-month probation period is required.

JOB DUTIES: As lead worker, plan, schedule and assign tasks to a cleaning crew performing floor mopping, scrubbing and vacuuming; strip, wash and polish floors, fixtures and furniture; move and arrange furniture and equipment for special events; check buildings for safety and security compliance to safeguard contents and prevent vandalism. Check work, assist with training and instruction on the proper cleaning methods and safe operation of all equipment. Remove faulty equipment from service, and make arrangements for repair, order supplies, and perform assigned custodial tasks.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Methods, materials and equipment used for broad based custodial duties; work planning, assignment and inspection techniques; appropriate use of cleaning agents and supplies; record keeping techniques. Some positions may require oral and English proficiency.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Some positions require possession of a valid driver's license, which meets the UW Risk Management Standards. Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, twisting, and other motions required in the performance of normal custodial duties. Some positions may require a conviction record check.
